I want to hear someone defend this.

I like them. I think it does something different and actually suits the design of the vehicles quite well (minus the LX and GX).
Holy shit, it’s almost like taste is subjective!

I like them! Im not much of a Lexus person though. But I think Predator face looks good.

Nuh uh!
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:23 |

I like them.
better then the single frame square that everyone else seems to be doing,.
plus, you INSTANTLY know its a lexus.
dont get car ppl sometimes. you bitch and complain that everything looks the same, and yet when someone does something different, OMG IT SO UGLY I”LL NEVER BUY
make up your friggen mind already.

1. You can’t say, “Nice Accord, brah.” or “Looks exactly like insert German series.”
2. It’s grabs your attention.
3. It sells quite well.
4. It is not boring.
5. You know exactly what it is when you see it.

I just don’t like the headlight design and the separated LED running light “nike swoop”.

But seriously....even this one?
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:26 |

All valid points. Especially number three, which is all that really matters.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:26 |
|
yea.
Though I do think the IS pulls it off the best.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:27 |

They’re fine. They’re distinctive, which is the entire point.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:27 |
|
Don't you think it's just a little....obnoxious? Or tacky? Wouldn't you really rather see things exactly as I do?
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:28 |
|
Uhhuh!!!
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:28 |

They certainly are unique.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:29 |
|
Well I'm just shocked that you would admit that in public.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:31 |
|
I can’t. It’s not even original. Someone did it decades ago:
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:31 |
|
Not really. I mean, if you want obnoxious or tacky, I find the little lights that shine directly underneath people’s doors to be a little stupid.
And not a chance.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:32 |
|
I’ve tried to think of an aesthetic justification for them and can’t. But at least they’re distinctive. For now.

heinously ugly

Meeee! And a while bunch of people. They are rad! All brands have big grillesi tseems like, but on a Lexus it’s unique and edgy. I’m glad they did an actual change in design instead of updating a previous look.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:39 |
|
Oh they look beautiful. On the IS, it looks oh so goooood.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:39 |

No.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:41 |

Oh yusss. The competition all kind of blends it. This stands out and is a huge middle finger to the cars in its class. Gets my vote! Not classy like an XC60.... but fun and crazy. That’s awesome also
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:52 |

I think the new models look great. There was a phase where legacy models got the spindle grille as a midcycle refresh and those models looked pretty awkward.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 19:58 |

I like it. I think they look good.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 20:05 |

Well I am astounded.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 20:08 |

Yes. Some models carry them better than others though.

Peugeot was bad. Audi was worse. But this ... I have no words. Was the designer blind?
![]() 02/20/2016 at 20:34 |
|
If that's a nice way of saying that it looks ugly on most vehicles, I agree completely.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 20:36 |
|
That’s definitely not what I said. I think it looks the best on the IS, GS, LC future car, and the new RX. I don’t think it looks ugly on the other ones. They just don’t wear it as well as those above.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 20:52 |

I find it to be very Japanese manga.

Way to not sound like a dick dude.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 21:25 |

If they keep reasonable proportions between the pinchy bit and the bottom non-pinchy bit. The new LC thing looks absolutely brilliant, but the new SUV whose meaningless name I can’t remember is horrible.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 21:29 |
|
Styling is subjective. YOU don’t like it, and that’s fine. But YOUR opinion is just that. An opinion. Saying YOU think the L-Finesse grills on Lexus vehicles are ugly does not make that a fact for everyone else. Go troll somewhere else.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 21:33 |
|
I do and I think I am lexus’ target market (although I’d rather buy 2 1990s bmws instead)
![]() 02/20/2016 at 21:51 |
|
All the F-Sports pull it off REALLY well in my opinion. It gives it quite a presence on the road but the SUVs that they slapped it on instead of designing it so it compliments the entire car (like the new RX) is just weird.
It’s trying something new and it’s something to respect and if you don’t like it, to each their own.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 21:51 |
|
I think it looks great on everything except the LX and GX. Especially looks astounding on the GS-F.
![]() 02/20/2016 at 21:58 |
|
I don’t think the overall hourglass shape is bad, BUT I think it’s very poorly executed to the point of being obnoxious. I would say I hate the Nike-swoosh headlight detail more. It just forces the rest of the styling around it to be incredibly awkward. One car where I like the Predatormouth grill just a little is the new LC-500, although even there it detracts from the rest of the car.

This grille style looks better on a cyclone fence or air conditioner condenser or backside of a refrigerator and not a Lexus grille, not because they are more attractive things than the Lexus, but rather that the Lexus makes it look like goatse.

everybody says they look like the predator, but once I say “koala bear” you can’t unsee it.

I don't see it. And koala bears are cute
![]() 02/21/2016 at 08:45 |

Wow. I think you feel stronger about this than I do....
![]() 02/21/2016 at 08:50 |

Bah. I thought arguing silly opinions as if they were important was what the Internet was invented for.
![]() 02/21/2016 at 09:17 |
|
This is a decent application of the design.
![]() 02/21/2016 at 22:31 |
|
Terrible on the SUVs too high and attention grabbing. Not bad on the GS and LS trim packages that have the bars to break it up.
generally getting tired of the merged black grill that everyone is following since Audi did it
![]() 02/22/2016 at 07:05 |

Unique and ugly aren’t the same thing. You can have one without the other.
The Lexus grill is both unique and ugly.
The new Cadillacs are fairly unique without being ugly.
![]() 02/22/2016 at 07:07 |
|
Hate them. What’s more, I feel like those who don’t have simply
fallen for the trick
, and/or gotten used to being surrounded by ugliness.

or.
or.
and i’m going ask you to sit down, because this may come as a shock to you.
others have different tastes then you? weird concept I know, but you might want to try and learn about it.

It’s possible.

I actually do like this grille. They are unique and, out of all the unnecessarily huge grilles on the road today, this one is well executed. But I just can’t get behind the weird Nike swooshes underneath the headlights and I think that every Lexus in the lineup would look better without them.
